Introduction

I get a lot of email asking about how to get started with ASP.NET based Facebook development and various API support questions thus I've decided to create a page to answer some of these questions.

Steps to Developing Facebook Applications

  1. First things first, read the Facebook developer's wiki or at the very least read the basics.
  2. Understand the difference between IFrame and FBML applications
  3. Download the sources for Facebook.NET and Facebook Developer's Toolkit

Why?? It's important because neither of these frameworks are commercial nor cover all of the things you can do with the API. Understanding how the framework you choose works will be important when you need to debug problems you have with the API.

  4. Use a my Starter Kit if you're using the Facebook Dev Toolkit
  5. Read and post support questions to the Facebook developer forum
