An opportunity

After nearly fifteen years working for Borland, now CodeGear, I've made the decision to pursue a new opportunity. My last day at CodeGear will be June 28th, at which point I'll take some time off before starting a new job (which I'll disclose then). Making the decision to leave was an extremely difficult one especially considering I've worked with some of the same great developers for more than a decade. Heck, one of these guys was even in my wedding party!

That said, I've been very appreciative of the support of the Delphi blogging community especially since I began hosting my own blog last October so I felt it only fair for you hear the news directly from me. You can rest assured I'll be watching and cheering on CodeGear as it delivers on "Where developers matter". Just as an opportunity has opened for me this is bound to open the door for someone else as well.

As for my blog, well, you know where to find me and I plan to keep on writing so stay tuned!

Go CodeGear!

What, we don't even get to guess? :) Hmm, the trendy thing to do these days is Google and you were just at their developer days... or is it something else completely different? I can't really see you going the 'softie route but maybe a web 2.0 company? I don't know, I'm putting my money on Google. Either way, congrats on your new job.

Hi Shawn,
Thanks! Oh, you can guess I just won't be talking about it until I get started. Btw, it's neither Goolge nor MS. FWIW, I already tried the "softie" route back in 1999 so I know what that's all about.

Steve,

Best wishes for this new road you'll drive on and good luck!

M. CodeGear, you'll soon loose Steve... Please hire some new valuable developers to fully implement the different features freshly described in the roadmap. Really hoping that unicode, 64 bit and net 2.0 won't be pushed an other time further in the future...

Very sad for Delphi community and CodeGear loose a valuable developer like you.

But I really wish the best luck with the new job.

Very sad to see you leave CodeGear Steve, even though I only work with Delphi on a minimal basis I still follow your blog (via DelphiFeeds) and/or Delphi news daily. Will you still be working with the Delphi language or is your new opportunity doing something entirely different?

Best wishes in your new project. Thanks a lot for the help you give to the delphi community.

Steve, best wishes for the future. Thank you for your contributions to the Delphi community. I look forward to seeing what you end up doing.

Maybe you could convince Jim Tierney to start blogging

Steve,

You'll be missed! All the best in whatever you do.

Hopefully you can make it to the next TeamB picnic (whenever that might be).

Best wishes for your new job, but we will miss you a lot. You're one of the few who kept Borland/CodeGear afloat while others tried to sink it. Good luck!

Good luck Steve!

You have one of the most intresting Delphi blogs and I've learned a lot from it during the years. I feel bad about this, but I hope that your position at CodeGear can be filled pretty fast and that it doesnt hurt the company to much.

I hope you will be back someday with fresh and intresting ideas for Delphi and CodeGears products. (It's not over until the fat lady sings)

I wish you all the best!
