Importing photos from Picasa to Facebook always fails

November 10 2008 9:09PM

Over the past few months I’ve tried numerous times to import pictures into Facebook from Picasa using the import option that’s part of Facebook. Each time I try I almost always get "Importing from external sites failed. Please try again later". I think out of ~50 times I’ve tried it’s managed to work only twice but it seems more or less broken with no additional information as to what’s wrong nor any way to actually debug the problem. Here’s what I’m seeing: image

The above screenshot is from the Import option on the Profile tab. I’ve posted here about it but does anyone know who/how to contact Facebook to report this problem?

Falafel software hiring .NET developers

October 24 2008 5:54AM

Falafel Software now hiring
My employer Falafel Software is currently looking to fill several .NET developer positions in the San Francisco Bay area. If you are a senior .NET developer familiar with ASP.NET, WinForms, WCF, MSSQL server etc. send your resume to me at stevet at falafel dot com or email me.

If you’re going to PDC next week look for Falafel’s CTO John Waters who will be there looking for qualified individuals for on the spot interviews and tell him you read it here. Fair warning, John’s razor sharp so sure to bring your "A" game and look for the "we’re hiring" Falafel T-shirt or drop by the Telerik booth at PDC where you’ll find John spending time with Falafel’s close partner.

Also, Falafel will be at Silicon Valley Code Camp 2008 on November 8th and 9th so if you’re at that event and looking for work be sure to seek out a Falafel employee we’ll be wearing the above logo.

JungleDisk acquired by Rackspace

October 22 2008 9:58PM

Today Rackspace announced that it has acquired JungleDisk which I blogged about the other day regarding cloud storage for photos (among other things). From what I understand JungleDisk will continue to work with Amazon and it looks like Rackspace may try to match Amazon’s hosting costs though the full details are not yet available. JungleDisk will be available for Rackspace’s Cloud Files service which will support API’s for third part development. It’ll be interesting to see if or how JungleDisk’s support for Amazon S3 will change over time.

Suggestions for a small office phone system

February 22 2008 6:54PM

The company I work for, Falafel Software, is moving offices in the next few weeks and is in the process of evaluating phone systems. I’m curious to know if anyone has any experience with a small business phone system, preferably VOIP, that’s cost effective and that you’d recommend? Falafel is looking something that has the basics, Voice Mail, automation for routing calls to different departments and separate lines for individual offices. The space has five offices and a conference room.

Btw, here is a map of the new location which is in Santa Cruz, CA and close to the beach which is great when your graphic designer has a calling to surf at lunch time!

You gotta love Santa Cruz!

Falafel software is hiring

July 16 2007 6:16AM
With my first week at Falafel Software under my belt I can already tell it's going to be an exciting ride. The pace is fast and Lino wastes no time making decisions, something I can really appreciate. Along those lines, he just posted that Falafel is looking for people in the following areas:
  • SharePoint Expert
  • Quality Assurance Engineer
  • ASP.NET 2.0 Developer
  • Sales Associate
  • .NET Architect
If any of these match you and you're interested send your resume to jobs@falafel.com or feel free to contact me if you have questions.

Starting my new job Monday with Falafel Software

July 07 2007 6:20AM
Falafel Software

The official word is out. Come Monday morning I start work for Falafel Software a consulting, training, and software development company based in San Jose. Of course, the Delphi community is familiar with Lino Tadros, Falafel's President and CEO who I'm excited to work with again.

I had some interesting opportunities and difficult decisions to make over the past few weeks and I'm really excited to join Falafel. With a new job and a new baby due in early October the second half of 2007 is already shaping up nicely.

I've been on vacation this past week enjoying my family and I'll admit it was fun to have the Forth of July holiday right in the middle. My wife and I got to take our three year old daughter to her first fireworks show which was a great experience.
